The Victorians were fond of displaying their treasured items and that included their garden plants. Auricula theatres were black lined boxes designed to show off these exquisite plants.
In a funky updating of the auricula theatre, our adventurous client Penny commissioned a fully 21st century version – bright puce, with bouncing hares interspersed amongst the three shelves for auriculas. Against a plain cream wall it looks stunning and Penny said it was all she hoped for and more. Anything is possible with imagination.
