Mapperton Spring Fair

This is our first opportunity to be at Mapperton’s famous Spring Plant Fair, one of the largest and most popular specialist plant fairs in Dorset. It’s a great day out for plant lovers with stalls from specialist plantsmen all over the region.  Access to the superb gardens (winner of the Garden of the Year 2020 Historic Houses award) is included in the £5 entry price. The Coach House café will be open serving hot drinks and snacks. Minterne Spring Plant Fair

Minterne’s Spring Fair is held annually in aid of the R.N.L.I. and St Andrews Church, Minterne Magna. There is a dog show held in the middle of the South Lawn with all the plant stalls around the perimeter. Another first for our show calendar!

Abbotsbury Spring Plant Fair

Sunday 15 May 2022, 10am-3pm, Abbotsbury Sub-Tropical Gardens, Buller’s Way, Abbotsbury, nr Weymouth, Dorset, DT3 4LA

This spring plant fair, organised by Plant Heritage Dorset, in conjunction with Abbotsbury Subtropical Gardens, has the emphasis on early season plants, plant-related items and some local crafts. Admission is £7 and includes access to the splendid grounds and gardens, which remain open until 5pm.

Dorset Garden Festival

Wednesday to Sunday 25-29 May 2022, 10am-5pm, Sculpture by the Lakes, Pallington, Dorchester, Dorset DT2 8QU

Sculpture by the Lakes are again holding a five-day garden festival with a wide range of nurseries and artisan makers of garden artefacts. We just hope the weather is kinder to us in 2022 than 2021!

Somerset HPS Summer Plant Fair

We had a splendid first trip to this HPS event last year featuring excellent nurseries. We’re delighted to be returning for a second year.

Musbury Barton Open Garden

Our forge is based next to Musbury Barton so we shall be open while Musbury Barton is open for the NGS. This 6 acre garden surrounds a traditional Devon longhouse and is renowned for its display of over 2,000 roses and may rare and unusual trees and shrubs. Enjoy the many vantage points in this unusual garden with a surprise round every corner – and don’t forget to look for our Open Forge signs at the top of the garden..

Abbotsbury June Plant Fair

HPS Devon Summer Plant Fair

Sunday 3rd July 2022, 10am-3pm, Burrow Farm Gardens, Dalwood, Axminster EX13 7ET

The HPS Devon Plant Fair is always a favourite event, sited in a beautiful location and with a very good range of nurseries. The gardens remain open until 6pm and the cafe is justly popular.

Uplyme Summer Flower and Produce Fair

Saturday 9th July 2022, 1-5pm, Uplyme Village Hall and King George V Playing Fields, Lyme Road, Uplyme, DY7 3UY

Organised by the Uplyme & Lyme Regis Horticultural Society, this show is always a great family event. As well as fine flowers and produce entered for the classes in the marquee, there is a wide range of entertainments, music and stands. And of course you might just give in to the temptations of the cream teas and cakes!

Melplash Agricultural Show

Thursday 25th August 2022, 8.30am-6pm, Melplash Showgrounds, West Bay Road, Bridport DT6 4EG

This is one of the premier agricultural shows in the south-west and we love the ‘country show by the sea’ feel that it has – like no other show.The showground is packed full of exhibits including livestock, horses, homecrafts and horticulture.  There are over 400 trade stands selling everything from locally produced food to tractors… and plenty in between! Enjoy a fulsome day out and do come and see us.

The Oak Fair

Saturday and Sunday 27-28 August 2022, 10am-5pm, Stock Gaylard Estate, Lydlinch, Sturminster Newton, Dorset, DT10 2BG

The Oak Fair is a marvellous 2-day event celebrating the countryside, conservation, woodland timber and traditional craft. There are over 200 exhibitors, traditional craft demonstrations, big machinery shows, heavy horse logging and  lots of local foods and drinks. There’s a marvellous atmosphere at this show so do try and fit it into your calendar.

Mapperton Autumn Fair

Mapperton’s Autumn Fair offers a wide range of late season herbaceous perennials and grasses, together with bulbs for autumn planting. Another excellent day out for gardeners. Somerset County Show

Saturday and Sunday 17 and 18 September 2022, Taunton Racecourse, Orchard Portman, Taunton Somerset TA3 7BL

The emphasis of this show is very much on participation and community involvement.  There will be a full programme of displays and attractions, with something for all the family.
